Glowing treasure in a pile of trash with floating green bubbles and lasers

"One thief's trash is another thief's treasure. Watch the poison bubbles." That is how the game introduces the Garbage world, the fourth of seven. It is the first world that explicitly adds a second kind of danger on top of lasers. This Laser Thief Garbage world guide helps you handle both.

The new rule: don't freeze

Lasers punish touching. Poison bubbles punish standing still for too long. That flips a common habit. In earlier worlds you might find a safe gap and wait. Here, waiting is risky.

Start practising small, continuous motion: shifting weight, adjusting your feet, adjusting your hand position. The goal is not to dance but to avoid being a perfectly stationary target.

Scan in layers

At the start of a level, check:

  1. Beams: where are the gaps?
  2. Bubbles: which way are they drifting?
  3. Loot: what is the order of grabs?

The best routes give you gaps for the beams and keep you ahead of the bubbles. Our dedicated poison bubbles guide goes deeper.

Small moves near beams

When a bubble drifts toward you, avoid a big lunge. Use the smallest move that works, a lean or a short step. Large movements near beams are how shield disappears, and the support notes recommend slow, deliberate movement over fast. Decide early, move small, settle.

Grab-and-go

Because lingering is penalised, plan grabs as quick sequences: approach, pause briefly to check the path, grab, retract. Do not pause for long once your hand is in the grid. Practise this in Free Play first, with random levels and no clock.

Keep shield in mind

Your shield shrinks when you brush a laser and the heist is over when it empties. In this world it is tempting to over-correct away from a bubble into a beam. If your shield is draining, slow down and check whether you are making large reactive moves.

Keep your body happy

The Garbage world encourages movement, so you may break a sweat sooner. Hydrate, take breaks between levels and stop if anything hurts or you feel dizzy. See our stretching routine for a pre-game warm-up.

Space and tracking

Make sure your play area is clear of cables and fragile objects, because you will be moving around a lot. Good lighting and a current Space Setup keep the lasers aligned with your room. If you changed the room, re-run setup and restart the game.

Mental approach

The world is funny and a bit gross in theme, and the narrator enjoys your mistakes. Treat it as light. A relaxed player moves smoother than a tense one, and smoother movement costs less shield.

After this world comes Furniture, a showroom of designer chairs. Read about all seven worlds on the Laser Thief page, or visit the Meta Horizon Store.

A sample rhythm for a bubble-heavy level

It can help to have a concrete tempo in mind. Imagine a level with a grid of beams at mixed heights and bubbles drifting slowly across the middle. Spend the first few seconds scanning. Pick the first loot item and the gap that leads to it. Move into that gap with a small, slow step, and keep your weight shifting gently so you are never completely frozen.

As you work toward the item, glance at the nearest bubble every beat or two. If it is closing in, plan an exit that stays near a gap you already know about, rather than a fresh route through unknown beams. Grab, retract, and begin the next leg straight away instead of lingering to admire your work.

Over several attempts you will start to feel a natural cadence of move, glance, move. That cadence is the real skill in this world, and it transfers to every later level.
