Missile Battery Anti-Air Guide for Sozo Tower Defense
Anti-air in Sozo Tower Defense explained: how the Missile Battery knocks flyers out of the sky, where to place it and how to back it up with your own hands.

Ground enemies follow the path, which makes them easy to plan for. Flyers do not. They skip the path entirely, and a defense built only for ground waves can lose the crystal while every tower is busy shooting the wrong thing. This anti-air missile battery guide for Sozo Tower Defense shows how to fix that.
Why flyers break lazy defenses
The game's own description of flying enemies is blunt: they skip the path entirely, so shoot them yourself. And its swarm description adds a nasty variation: dozens of weak flyers at once. Two problems in one: they ignore your kill zones, and they can come in numbers.
Your path-focused setup of Frost Spires, Flamethrowers and Cannons is built around monsters being on the ground in predictable places. Flyers do not play along.
The dedicated answer: Missile Battery
The Missile Battery fires explosive missiles that reach up and knock flyers out of the sky. That is its job. If a level has flyers, you want at least one Missile Battery in the build before the first air wave arrives, not after.
Placing it
Flyers head more or less toward the Core Crystal rather than along the winding route, so think about the approach to the crystal, not the path. A Missile Battery near the crystal is a safety net; one placed further out catches flyers earlier.
A useful test: watch the first flying wave and note which direction they approach from. Then put your anti-air along that line, on your next attempt, if you lost.
How many?
For a mixed level, one or two upgraded batteries beat many unupgraded ones. For a swarm level with dozens of weak flyers, you need to spread damage rather than focus it; explosive missiles are suited to that, but also consider that your own shooting can add to the volume of fire.
You are also anti-air
Sozo is a VR and mixed reality game, and the game explicitly lets you shoot flyers and punch them out of the sky. This is not a gimmick. Use it:
- Stand where flyers converge near the crystal and clean up the ones that slip past the batteries.
- Treat punching as the final line of defense against a weak flyer that has reached you.
Our punching flyers guide covers stance and habits.
Powers against air waves
- Meteor calls a meteor down on the thickest part of the wave. Whether it is the right tool for a given flyer wave depends on how clustered they are; the game describes it as clearing the thickest part of a wave.
- Stasis freezes the battlefield for a moment, which gives your missiles and your own aim a breather.
- Overcharge pushes towers past their limits, a good match for a Missile Battery when a swarm arrives.
Mistakes to avoid
- Building anti-air only after losing to a flying wave once. Scout first with a safe difficulty.
- Putting the only battery at the entrance of the path where flyers do not travel.
- Forgetting that explosive towers like the Cannon are for ground enemies.
- Overinvesting in anti-air on levels that never send flyers. Read the waves.
A balanced build
- Ground core: Ballista, Frost Spire, Cannon.
- Air cover: one or two Missile Batteries near the crystal's approach.
- You: shooting and punching flyers that leak.
- Powers: saved for the biggest wave.

FAQ
How do I kill flying enemies in Sozo Tower Defense?
Build a Missile Battery, which knocks flyers out of the sky, and shoot or punch them yourself.
Do flyers follow the path?
No. The game says they skip the path entirely.
Is one Missile Battery enough?
It depends on the wave. Swarms of weak flyers may need more fire, so upgrade and add a second if needed.
Can I punch flying enemies in mixed reality too?
The game supports punching with hand tracking or controllers in both VR and mixed reality.
