VR Boss Fight Games: Facing the Kraken and the Lich King
Love epic boss fights? Sozo Tower Defense on Quest pits shielded giants like the Kraken and Lich King against your towers. How to prepare.

Some players put up with ordinary waves just to reach the big moment: a towering enemy with a health bar the size of a building. If that is you, you are probably searching for VR boss fight games where the boss is a real event. Sozo Tower Defense, a strategy game on Meta Quest, builds toward its giants, and this guide shows how to meet them.
Who the bosses are
Sozo's description lists "giant bosses" among its enemy types, naming the Kraken and the Lich King, with shields included. They belong to their realms: the Kraken lives down in the Sunken Depths, where monsters also heal each other, and the Lich King rules the Necropolis, where the dead rise again once. The game has 48 enemy types in total across eight realms and 160 levels. The studio does not publish a full boss list, so we will only talk about the ones it names.
How bosses differ from ordinary waves
The game's own enemy guidance describes four problems you will meet: fast swarms (spread your damage), armored brutes (focus your fire), flying enemies that skip the path, and giant bosses. A boss is not just a bigger brute; it comes with shields, so your damage has to get through that layer first.
Practical consequences:
- Sustained damage matters. A boss tests whether your defence can keep up for a long stretch, not just a burst.
- Support units still arrive. Bosses rarely come alone, so your anti-swarm and anti-air coverage still counts.
- Realm twists apply. The Kraken's realm means healing between monsters; the Lich King's means rising dead.
A boss-prep checklist
- Upgrade your best towers to their higher tiers. Each tower has three tiers, and a boss is where they pay off.
- Layer damage types. Slow with the Frost Spire, melt with the Prism Laser, blast with the Cannon and use the Arcane Obelisk when nothing else gets through.
- Keep anti-air. A Missile Battery reaches up and knocks flyers out of the sky, so a boss is not accompanied by an uncontested air raid.
- Hold your powers. The support page advises saving Meteor, Stasis and Overcharge for the biggest waves and bosses.
- Plan your power order. Decide in advance. A common sequence is Overcharge to push your towers, Meteor on the thickest clump, and Stasis as the emergency brake.
Powers in a boss context
Meteor drops on the thickest part of the wave, which is useful when a boss is surrounded by its escort. Stasis freezes the battlefield for a moment: just long enough to fix mistakes, such as replacing a disabled tower. Overcharge pushes your towers past their limits and can turn a close call into a clean sweep.
Physical presence
The fun of VR boss fights is scale. You can look up at a huge enemy while your towers strike back. In mixed reality on Quest 3 or 3S, the idea of a big monster marching across your real floor adds an extra thrill. VR mode works on Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
Difficulty and learning
If a boss beats you, try dropping a difficulty to learn the pattern, then climb back. The game has Casual, Normal, Hard, Super Hard and Ultra. Do not be ashamed of learning on Casual; boss battles are about mastery.
Stay comfortable
Boss fights are exciting and it is easy to push on. You stand, reach, aim and punch, so take breaks, keep the space clear and stop if you feel dizzy or unwell.
