When to Use Meteor, Stasis and Overcharge in Sozo
Not sure when to spend your powers in Sozo Tower Defense? Practical timing advice for Meteor, Stasis and Overcharge, with the wave types they fit.

Your three powers, Meteor, Stasis and Overcharge, are the game's panic buttons and its precision tools. The support page gives one rule: save them for the biggest waves and bosses. This article builds on that with timing ideas for each. The game does not publish cooldowns or numbers in our sources, so we stick to what each power does by description.
Meteor: delete the thickest cluster
The product page says to call a meteor down on the thickest part of the wave and watch the path clear. So it works best when many enemies bunch together.
Good moments:
- A swarm of weak enemies funnelled into a bend in the path.
- A pack escorting a boss, before the boss arrives.
- Leaking enemies near the Core Crystal.
Poor moments: a single weak enemy, or a wave already spread thin.
Stasis: buy time to fix things
Stasis freezes the battlefield for a moment, "just long enough to fix your mistakes." That makes it a repair tool.
Good moments:
- You realise a gap in your defense and need to place or upgrade a tower.
- A flyer slips past and you want to shoot it down before the crystal is hit.
- Something chaotic, such as an EMP that knocked out your towers in Neon Overdrive, needs a recovery window.
Overcharge: turn a close call into a clean sweep
Overcharge pushes your towers past their limits. Use it when your defense is good but a wave's pressure is just above what it can handle.
Good moments:
- A boss wave where your towers are doing steady damage but not enough.
- When armored brutes in Clockwork Citadel are creeping toward the crystal.
- A big mixed wave where all towers are active at once.
Combining powers
- Stasis first to place towers, then Overcharge for the push.
- Meteor on the crowd, Overcharge on the survivors.
Whether powers can be chained in a particular way depends on the in-game rules we do not describe, so test on a low-stakes level.
Realm-specific thinking
- Verdant Hollow: regenerating monsters. Burst them down with Meteor so they cannot heal.
- Sunken Depths: monsters heal each other, so kill clusters quickly.
- Void Nebula: phasing enemies dodge, so use Stasis when aiming is difficult.
- Necropolis: the dead rise once, so keep a power for the second wave of attackers.
Practice rules
- Do not save powers forever; a power never used is wasted.
- Do not use them on the first wave unless you are testing.
- Note which wave beat you, then plan to fire the power there.
- Stay calm: in VR, panic means missed gestures.
Difficulty link
On harder settings you will need powers more often. Five modes exist, from Casual to Ultra, so adjust expectations.

A practice exercise
Pick an early level you can win comfortably and use it as a lab. Fire Meteor at a thin line of enemies and then at a thick cluster, and compare how much of the path clears. Use Stasis at a calm moment and notice how much time it gives you to place a tower. Use Overcharge while your towers are already busy. Ten minutes of deliberate testing teaches more than a dozen panicked boss fights, and it makes your timing instinctive when the pressure is real.
Reading the wave before spending a power
Powers are most valuable when they answer a specific problem, so build the habit of naming the problem before you press anything. Is the wave thick and clustered? That is a job for Meteor, which comes down on the thickest part of the wave. Is something going wrong in your layout that you need seconds to fix? That is Stasis. Are your towers already firing at a wave that is almost beaten back? That is Overcharge. If you cannot name the problem, wait another few seconds. Players who fire powers on reflex tend to meet the boss with nothing left, while players who wait for a named problem rarely waste one.
