Miniature ruined city of blocks on a dining table with a parachute airdrop descending

The City is where Tank Avenger begins. The store page calls it the ruins of the metropolis where it all began, and the story says the city was reduced to ruins after a devastating attack. For most players it is also the first place to learn how to survive. This Tank Avenger City world guide shows how to read it.

What the City gives you

From the game's description, the City world is a fight through ruins. A screenshot caption adds that supply airdrops land right on your table. We will lean on those two facts and general tank-battle sense, not invented specifics.

Ruins mean cover. A broken skyline of blocks gives you places to hide, peek and ambush. They also give enemies those same places.

Treat it as a training ground

The City is the best place to practise the basics:

  • Bank shots. With plenty of walls, you can rehearse rebounds with the Normal Gun and Fast Gun. See our bank shot guide.
  • Moving between cover. Make a habit of travelling from block to block rather than across open ground.
  • Reading the layout. Walk around your real table or floor and view the battlefield from every side.

A cover-first approach

  1. At the start of a fight, locate your nearest safe block.
  2. Locate the enemies' blocks and think about which shot lines connect them to you.
  3. Move so that your block is between you and the strongest enemy.
  4. Peek out, take a shot, and step back.

If you find yourself fighting in the open, you have probably lost the thread.

Using the airdrops

Supply airdrops landing on your table are one of the nice touches of this world. When one drops, decide whether it is safe to go and get it. A good rule: only chase supplies when you have cover along the route or when the area around it is clear. A reward is not worth walking into the line of fire.

Weapon choices

Dense ruins favour a mix:

  • Normal Gun for reliable angles.
  • Bomb Thrower for enemies tucked behind rubble.
  • Triple Gun if you want forgiving coverage in narrower lanes.

You do not need to commit to one weapon forever. Try a few across several levels, and put coins into what feels best. Our upgrade priority guide helps with the decision.

Use the room, carefully

Because your living room becomes the battlefield, the City feels different in every home. A cluttered table makes for tighter play; a clear floor feels more open. Whichever you have, keep walkways clear, keep the lights on, and use the level builder if you want to reshape it. See Level Builder ideas.

Common City mistakes

  • Rushing through ruins. Patience wins here.
  • Ignoring your flanks. With cover on all sides, enemies can appear from places you did not expect.
  • Not spending coins. The City is a good place to earn them. Use them.

Moving on

Once the City feels comfortable, the next worlds change the rules. Desert opens up the sightlines, Jungle tightens the corridors, and Ice makes everything slide. Learn more about the game on the Tank Avenger page.

Treat the City as a lab

Because the City is full of ruined cover, it is a great place to run small experiments. Try the same level with three different weapons and note which one feels best. Try one run where you never leave cover and another where you push aggressively. These experiments cost nothing, and the results guide your later choices in the Desert, Jungle and Ice worlds. Players who experiment early tend to adapt faster when the rules change, and the City is the most forgiving place to do it.
