Tight space? Use the Tank Avenger: Mixed Reality Level Builder to design compact battlefields that feel big, from a coffee table to a 2 by 2 metre floor.

Not everyone has a spare room. If you play Tank Avenger in a studio apartment or a corner of a bedroom, you might wonder whether the game will be cramped. Good news: the support page says a clear floor area of roughly 2 × 2 metres works well, a table makes a great arena, and the level builder can shape battlefields around whatever space you have. This is a guide to the Tank Avenger small room level builder approach.

Start with the table

The store page suggests placing blocks on your coffee table. For a small space, this is the best trick: put the battlefield at table height, keep the floor free for movement and enjoy a full tank war within arm's reach. You can stand or sit beside it and move your head to see around blocks.

Keep the floor clear

A small room means less tolerance for hazards. Before each session:

  • Remove cables, shoes and bags from the floor.
  • Move fragile objects away from your arms' reach.
  • Complete or refresh your headset's room setup if you moved furniture.
  • Keep the lights on.

Following the safety advice is not optional with limited space. Virtual objects do not protect you from real ones.

Design for density

In a small arena, the challenge is to make fights interesting without long distances. Tips:

  1. Use more blocks, not fewer. Cover creates depth where distance can't.
  2. Build corridors. Tight lanes can feel intense without needing room.
  3. Add blind corners. They create surprise in a small area.
  4. Avoid long straight lines that make fights trivial.

Layouts inspired by the Jungle, with dense cover and tight corridors, suit small spaces especially well. See the Jungle guide.

Mind the bounces

In a small arena, bouncing bullets return quickly. The Normal Gun bounces once and the Fast Gun twice, so your own shots may come back sooner than expected. Design a layout where you have a safe place to stand that no short rebound can reach. Our bouncing bullet guide helps.

Choose weapons that match

  • Triple Gun: good coverage in narrow lanes.
  • Normal Gun: predictable in compact space.
  • Bomb Thrower: efficient for clearing cover.

Be careful with multi-bounce weapons if your arena is very small.

Use vertical thinking

You don't need floor area to make a level interesting if you use your head. Looking from above, from the side and from near the surface gives different views. Moving your head instead of your feet is safer in tight rooms.

Sample compact layouts

  • The box: a ring of walls with two spawn points and a few interior blocks.
  • The cross: two corridors meeting in the middle.
  • The corner fort: all your blocks in one half, enemies in the other.

Session habits

Small rooms feel hotter and more cluttered, so short sessions with breaks are wise. Stop if you feel dizzy, nauseous or uncomfortable. Custom levels are saved locally on your headset, so you can stop and return later.

Troubleshooting

If the arena doesn't line up with your room, re-run Space Setup and restart the game. See our play space setup guide.

Rotate instead of expanding

When you run out of space, rotate your layout instead of trying to expand it. The same arrangement of blocks feels different when you stand at another side of the table, and your lines of sight change completely. Try each of your small layouts from all four sides. You will get several levels' worth of variety from one build, and you will learn how your cover looks from every direction. It is a cheap, safe way to get depth out of a tiny play space.

FAQ

Does the Level Builder adapt to small rooms?

It is designed around your real-world play space and can shape battlefields around whatever space you have.
